Earth Science Laboratories doubles fundraising effort for diabetes
Team Earth Science Labs raises over $7,000 for diabetes in Arkansas Tour de Cure.
Bentonville, Ark. – Team Earth Science Labs cycled and walked for a cure on Saturday in the Arkansas Tour de Cure. The team raised $7,240 in its third outing at the annual benefit. This doubled their efforts from last year and put them at the top of the leader board, along with local giants Walmart® ($6,770) and J.B. Hunt® ($5,235.50).
This year’s Tour de Cure took place at the Crystal Bridges Museam of Art and featured a 20-mile cycling route along with a new event, a one-mile Family Fun walk. Team ESL turned out enthusiastically for both events, with participants from every division of the company. The team was represented by a cycling team, seven walkers, and several event volunteers who offered food, water, and encouragement.
Also new this season was the team name. In previous years, the company cycled under the name Team PristineBlue®. This former name came from the core product in the company’s pool and spa care system. The change to Team ESL for this year’s Tour de Cure reflected increased interest and participation in the cause throughout all divisions of ESL, including the municipal water treatment product division. “We originally formed a small team for our recreational water division, but enthusiasm spread throughout the company each year,” CEO David Nicholas said. “It’s just such a great cause and a fun, family event. Participation really brings us together, and that is important to our corporate culture.”
Team ESL is committed to supporting diabetes research and hopes to raise even more in the 2018 season. This year, the Arkansas Tour de Cure raised a total of $125,452 for the American Diabetes Association® in the fight against diabetes. According to the ADA, diabetes causes more deaths annually than breast cancer and AIDS combined.
Earth Science Laboratories Inc. develops innovative products for use in municipal and recreational water management. ESL manufactures EarthTec® and EarthTec® QZ for the treatment and prevention of cyanobacteria and zebra mussels, AlgaeShield®, a high-performance algaecide for swimming pools, and PristineBlue, an algaecide and non-public health bactericide for use in swimming pools and spas. All ESL products are EPA registered and NSF Certified to ANSI Standard 60 for use in drinking water.
